I like to take pictures. I have been published. I was on board a US Navy Destroyer during Desert Storm and I had a 24 exposure roll of 35mm film basically confiscated by the US Navy. At least they let me get a copy made. The letter from the 'big boys' told my command to 'instruct me' to turn the film in. In other words they were ordering me to give up the goods. Funny thing is I could always throw the film over the side. As we said in the Navy, "I'm not sure where it is, but I can probably give you a lat and long on it." I told the command as long as I could get that copy then I would be happy. Everyone agreed and we were in business. My pic ended up on the back cover of Surface Warfare before the Navy even got it. Some admiral who had a copy of the pic turned it in. At least it had my name on it. Now the roll of film lives in the US Navy Historical Stills Library or some wordy place like that. And it's been in all sorts of books and magazines. Navy Times used it. So it gets around and I make zilch off of it. |
I'm Mid-Western guy that belongs in Western Arizona. Former US Navy. Disabled Veteran. Harley rider. 4x4 driver. I dig guns, shooting, hunting. Fishing too. Camping. Hiking if my disability doesn't interfere with it and it usually does. Appreciate the great outdoors without being a busybody that expects everyone to adapt to my way of thinking about the great outdoors. I mind my own business.
